The AS350 Écureuil (nowadays Airbus Helicopters H125) is a light multi-purpose helicopter. It was the first ever helicopter by Aérospatiale to be manufactured on an assembly line. 

Facts

  • The AS350 exists in different series with power ranging up to 710kW (952hp).
  • 2002, the 30 year withstanding altitude record of helicotpers was broken by an AS350 reaching 12'954m amsl but never officially acknowledged.
  • 2005 an AS350 landed on Mount Everest with an altitude of 8'848m amsl.
  • In 2010, a Swiss pilot and rescue specialist managed to perform a mountain rescue with an AS350 at 7'000m amsl - another world record.
