How to become a helicopter pilot:
In principle, anyone can become a helicopter pilot. The prerequisites are, besides good health, the motivation and willingness to invest enough time and work in the training. In addition to an interesting practical training, a theoretical training is also part of the acquisition of a pilot license.
Requirements
In order to commence the pilot training, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum age of 16 years (completion of training not before the age of 17).
- Good health (see medical requirements)
- English language skills
In order to get a first insight into helicopter flying it is advisable to take a trial flight.
Career opportunities
Starting a career as a professional helicopter pilot CPL(H) is not easy. In the first years as a young pilot, you usually work part-time for a company and fly the simpler flights under the supervision of the chief pilot. With increasing experience, the possibilities open up for further training or gradual entry into commercial flying, whether in transport, passenger flights in the mountains or lowlands, or in flight training. We are pleased to have an increasing number of pilots who, after training with us, have made the leap into a cockpit with the police, Rega or a transport company. Our aim is to support our students and pilots on their way as good as possible and this also beyond the actual training period.
